How does non-violence work?
#1)Document D: I cannot intentionally hurt anything that lives much less human beings even though they may do the greatest harm to me and mine.
#2)Document F: In this case the state was far more powerful than we and any attempts at violence by us would be devastatingly crushed. This made nonviolence a practical necessity rather than an option.(new)
#3)Document G: You must not use any violence under circumstances. You will be beaten but you must not resist; you must not even raise a hand to ward off blows.
#4)Document H: We made it clear that we would not send anyone out to demonstrate who had not convinced himself that he could accept and endure violence without retaliating.
#5) Document I: No matter what the authorities did the volunteers could not retailate otherwise they would undermine the value of the entire enterprise. They must respond to violence with nonviolence;discipline must be maintained at all cost.
#6)Document B: I agreed that some protest was necessary and that the boycott method would be an effective one.
#7)Document N: After Time magazine published a cover story on our movement in Febuary 1957 I thought I observed a lessening of tensions and feelings against me and the movement itself.During this period I could hardly go into any town or city in this nation where I was not lavished with hospitality by people of all races and of all creeds.
#8)Movie: During like the beginning of the movie when Gandhi held his first meeting to burn the slips the British gave to the people of India. The police beat him but he still did not fight back and the wardon of the jail end up letting him go.
#9)Movie: During the movie Gandhi continued to persuade his followers to be non violent.

freedom of speech
http://www.freedom4ever.net/freedom_of_speech.htm
http://www.answers.com/topic/freedom-of-speech
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_does_freedom
Nowhere in the United States Constitution or the Bill of Rights does it protect anyone from being offended or offended by speech. Non-offensive speech does not need protection under the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the United States of America.
Liberty to express opinions and ideas without hindrance, and especially without fear of punishment.
Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship or limitation. The synonymous term freedom of expression is sometimes used to denote not only freedom of verbal speech but any act of seeking, receiving and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
Freedom of Speech is found in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The First Amendment prevents the federal government from arbitrarily and unnecessarily interfering with an individual’s speech. Through the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, this protection is extended to prevent similar actions by state governments.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution provides that “Congress
shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press....” This
language restricts government both more and less than it would if it were applied
literally. It restricts government more in that it applies not only to Congress, but to
all branches of the federal government, and to all branches of state and local
government. It restricts government less in that it provides no protection to some
types of speech and only limited protection to others.

The permafrost is thawing
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/09/080901084854.htm
The source is Science Daily.
Some credentials are they are a group of reporters who study the permafrost.
This source is very credible.
They say the thawing of permafrost in northern latitudes, which greatly increases microbial decomposition of carbon compounds in soil, will dominate other effects of warming in the region.
I believe what they say because they showed pics.
http://news.ufl.edu/2008/09/03/permafrost-carbon/
The source is Aaron Hoover.
Some credentials are he is an associate professor of ecology at the University of Florida.
This source is very credible.
They say with the Arctic warming and permafrost thawing, shrubs and trees are likely to grow on ground.
I believe what they say because they show pics.
http://www.ucar.edu/news/releases/2005/permafrost.shtml
The source is ucar.
Some credentials are they study the permafrost.
This source is very credible.
They say Recent warming has degraded large sections of permafrost across central Alaska, with pockets of soil collapsing as the ice within it melts.
I believe what they say because they show pics

Global warming affects the seasons
http://www.panda.org/about_our_earth/aboutcc/problems/impacts/
The source is WWF.
Some credentials are WWF is an independent foundation registered under Swiss law, governed by a Board of Trustees under an International President.
This source is very credible because they get funded to do this research.
They said Rapid temperature changes affect the seasons, causing variations in season length. Changes such as shorter winters can lead to mismatches between key elements in an ecosystem. I believe what they say because they showed lots of graphs and pictures.
http://www.globalwarming.org.in/effects-of-global-warming.php
The source is fight global warming.com
Some credentials are against Global warming and help spread awareness of the issues at hand.
This source is very credible because they want every one to know the truth about global warming.
They say the effect of global warming can be felt on seasons too. There is shift in season cycle, as the summers are getting longer than the winters.
I believe what they say because they they want everyone to know the truth even though they dont get paid.
http://science.howstuffworks.com/global-warming-hunting-season.htm
The source is Julia Layton.
Some credentials are Julia Layton holds a B.A. in English literature from Duke University and a M.F.A. in creative writing from the University of Miami.
This source is somewhat credible because they dont give a lot of details.
They say these gasses trap heat in a sort of bubble around the planet, causing increased temperatures and accompanying weather changes.
I dont believe what they say because they were basiclly talking about hunting season.

Lake Chad has dryed up to almost nothing in the past few years
http://www.scienceinafrica.co.za/2003/march/chad.htm
The source is Science in Africa magazine.
Some credentials they have is the articles are wrote by real professors.
This source is kind of credible because it was in a magazine.
They says The Lake Chad Basin is shared by five countries. Its rivers used to feed into one of Africa's largest lakes. However, the waterway has been drying up and is now just a fraction of its former size.
I believe this source because they showed pictures.
http://climateprogress.org/2008/06/20/lake-chad-now-more-like-pond-chad/
The source is Tom Friedman.
Some credentials he has are he is a writer for the New York Times.
This source is not really credible because he is only a writer.
He says Lake Chad used to be the world’s sixth-largest lake, but its resources have been diverted for human use or affected by rainfall such that its been almost entirely depleted in a very short amount of time.
I don't really believe this guy but alot of people commented on his page.
http://scienceandpublicpolicy.org/scarewatch/yet_another_moment_of_fateful_decision_.html
The source is Christopher Monckton.
Some credentials he has are he works for the science and public policy institute.
This source is very credible because his job is to study these things.
He said many shallow lakes, including prominently Lake Chad, have disappeared.
I do somewhat believe what he says because he does this for a living.

When the ocean gets warmer bigger storms come
http://www.dinodiver.com/html/planetary_winds.html
The source is Dr.Ray McAllister.
Some credentials he has are Professor Ray McAllister, Geologist, Oceanographer, Ocean Engineer, Self Proclaimed Diving Dinosaur and Author of Diving Locations.
This source is credible because he is a professor on the topic and he is in the water all the time.
He says As the ocean gets warmer and water vapor rises from its surface, this H20 gas is lighter than any of the four main constituents of air. Oxygen, nitrogen, argon (an inert gas making up about 1 percent of our atmosphere), and CO2, are all heavier than water vapor. The water vapor rises through the air. When it reaches its dew point, the atmospheric temperature level where vapor becomes water droplets, the water vapor gives up the heat it is holding as latent heat and as noted above, a hurricane may result.
I do believe the source because he is in the water all the time.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/dispatches/050811.html
The source is Robert Krulwich and Jonah Lehrer.
Some credentials he has is they are science teachers.
This source is credible because they teach things to other people.
They says that global warming does not cause an increased number of hurricanes.
I dont belive what they say because they are just to people who think they know whats going on.
http://global-warming-truth.com/environmental-tv-movies/unofficial-transcription-of-an-inconvenient-truth-part-2.html
The scorce is not mentioned.

unknown
The source says Now I'm going to show you, recently released, the actual ocean temperature. Of course when the oceans get warmer, that causes stronger storms.
I somewhat believe what they say because they make good points but they have no information about themselves.
